General Rules for Obtaining Postgraduate Diplomas (Professional and Specialized)

These are programs that cover academic courses of an applied nature for one or two academic years. They serve as an applied scientific addition aimed at enhancing the professional level of the student in the various fields they work in after graduating from the Faculty of Arts.

  • Professional Diploma: The study for the professional diploma is independent and stands on its own.
  • Specialized Diploma: Students who obtain a specialized diploma with a minimum grade of B+ are eligible to enroll in a Master’s program.

New diplomas may be added with the approval of the University Council, based on the Faculty Council’s consent, the recommendation of the relevant academic department council, and the approval of the Arts sector committee. More than one department may participate in offering a postgraduate diploma.

Registration Requirements

In addition to the conditions specified in Article (5), the following are required for enrollment in any postgraduate diploma:

  1. The student must hold a Bachelor’s degree (Licentiate) in a relevant field from the Faculty of Arts or an equivalent faculty at Benha University or another recognized institution.
  2. The Faculty Council may allow students with a Bachelor’s degree in a different field to enroll after successfully completing a number of supplementary courses determined by the relevant department, provided the cumulative average for these courses is not less than C. These courses are not counted toward the program’s total credit hours.
  3. To obtain the diploma, the student must complete 10–30 credit hours, according to the regulations of each academic department.
  4. To earn a professional or specialized postgraduate diploma, the student must pass all registered courses with a minimum grade of C.
  5. For any diploma program, the minimum number of enrolled students must be 10.

Program Credit Hours

  • Table (3) specifies the courses and credit hours for each diploma specialization.
  • The Faculty Council approves the content of each course, as determined by the councils of the relevant academic departments, following the college and department course codes.
  • Students’ semester GPA and cumulative GPA are calculated at the end of the academic year or upon completion of their program, based on the grades obtained in all successfully completed courses.
  • Courses are evaluated according to the grading system shown in Table (2).
