Historical Overview
The Faculty of Arts at Benha University stands as a prestigious academic landmark and a pivotal center for science and knowledge in the Delta region. Its origins date back to the academic year 1981–1982, as one of the founding faculties of the Benha branch—then affiliated with Zagazig University, where study had originally begun during the academic year 1977–1978.
From its inception, the Faculty began with three core departments: Arabic Language, History, and Sociology. With a consistent commitment to growth and academic advancement, the Faculty has undergone gradual structural expansion and now includes ten comprehensive academic departments: Arabic Language, English Language, French Language, History, Geography, Sociology, Psychology, Library & Information Science, Philosophy, and Media—with its two divisions: Radio & Television and Journalism.
A Quantum Leap Toward Universality and Specialization
Within the framework of its ambitious strategic vision and its keen alignment with global and regional labor market demands, the Faculty of Arts took an unprecedented qualitative step. This was marked by the Decree of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education on August 25, 2025, authorizing the establishment of four new specialized academic departments:
-
Department of Russian Language
-
Department of German Language
-
Department of Theater Studies
-
Department of Ancient Egyptian Archaeology
This qualitative expansion is a direct result of the directives of Pro. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University. It underscores the senior administration's dedication to deepening specialization and opening new horizons for students in vital, high-demand fields. This move clearly reflects the cultural and intellectual openness adopted by the Faculty and its pursuit of graduating qualified professionals with unique competitive advantages.
