Admission & Registration

  1. Students who hold a Bachelor’s degree from Benha University or any university recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities are eligible for postgraduate programs provided they have a minimum overall grade of C+ and a grade of B- in the specialization courses they intend to register for.
  2. Students who hold a Bachelor’s degree from faculties with equivalent academic departments may also be admitted, according to the decisions of the Supreme Council of Universities regarding equivalency.
  3. Students cannot register for a course that has a prerequisite unless they have successfully completed the required prerequisite course.
  4. With the approval of the Faculty Council and based on the recommendation of the relevant Department Council, students may transfer previously completed courses from another university or faculty, provided:
    1. The courses are required for the degree being pursued.
    2. The student achieved a minimum grade of C+ in those courses.
    3. The total transferred credit hours do not exceed 30% of the total program credit hours for the diploma, Master’s, or PhD program.
    4. The courses were not completed at a level below the level of the program in which the student is enrolling.
    5. The courses were not used to earn another degree.
    6. Faculty and institute regulations determine the levels at which this applies.
    7. Transferred courses are included in calculating the student’s cumulative GPA.
  5. Students enrolled in a postgraduate program at Benha University may transfer credits for courses previously completed at Benha University with a minimum grade of C+, provided these courses are part of the current program requirements.
  • Registration Procedures

  • Registration for Master’s and Ph.D. Programs

  1. Registration is mandatory for the student in order to be allowed to attend the courses required for obtaining the degree.
  2. A student who does not register by the end of the second week of the semester (or the first week of the summer semester) is not allowed to attend lectures, not allowed to take exams, and is considered absent, unless the student completes the procedures for suspending enrollment.
  3. Students expected to graduate must fill out the designated form before the beginning of the final semester so that the department can determine the number of new students who can be admitted in the following semester.
  • Continuation of Dissertation Registration

  1. The student (PhD stage) registers research hours after passing the qualifying exam and obtains the degree after successfully defending the dissertation.
  2. The registration fees for dissertation hours are equal to half the fees of other coursework credit hours.
  3. The student continues registering for dissertation units in all semesters until completing the dissertation for submission to the examination and defense committee, without interruption, unless the student takes the procedures for suspending enrollment.
  • Registration for Courses and Withdrawal from Courses (For Master’s and Ph.D. Programs)

  1. The student selects the courses with the help of the academic supervisor and completes the designated form two weeks before the start of term.
  2. A student who wishes to withdraw from a course must complete the required form within the period allowed for course withdrawal.
  3. A student who wishes to drop or add a course must complete the required form within the period allowed for dropping and adding courses.
  • Re-Registration for Master’s and Ph.D. Programs

    A student may re-register if the cancellation of registration was at their request and for personal reasons, provided that at least one year has passed since the approval of the first cancellation of registration.
